Radio Magnetic "Summer Holidays Mix" 2004

I've been back in Glasgow this week, cleaning out our office space at Hope Street Studios as we never really use it any more, and should really be letting someone who needs it use it. In the process of clearing out (and tripping down memory lane!) I have stumbled across a few old mixes from when I used to dj on Radio Magnetic (as Trippy Disco and on The Discopia Show). I will be uploading these mixes to Mixcloud in the near future, and here is the first one, recorded in the summer of 2004. The tracklist for this is a bit patchy, as I can't recall what some of these tunes are! If you can help, leave track ids in the comments...

NIALLIST special on ALL FM

I was a guest and tune selector for the wonderful Fiona Ledgard's "Anything Goes" breakfast show on Manchester's ALL FM. I had a great time (even though it was early in the morning) and you can listen to me talking nonsense here:

Is it all over my face? I'M IN LOVE DANCING!

Manchester's very own internationally renouned performer and producer THE NIALLIST joined me live in the ALL FM studio. He played tracks off his AMAZING new party album 'The Niallist AKA' and he talked about his collaborations, Tranarchy, a lesson on vogue, bears, language on the dragqueen scene and other interesting and empowing things!

He also played music from J. J. FAD to Loose Joints!

Thanks Fiona! :-D Here is what we played:

Dead Kennedys - Kill The Poor
Missy Elliot - Slide
The Niallist - Work It
Egyptian Lover - My House On the Nile
The Niallist & Cherie Lily - Dance Club (Party Party)
The Niallist & Zsa Zsa Noir & CHRISTEENE - I'm Weird

Tranarchy on the Anything Goes Breakfast Show on ALL FM

The House of Tranarchy was kindly invited to guest on Fiona Ledgard's ANYTHING GOES Breakfast Show for ALL FM in Manchester. There's interviews with myself, Joyce, Paddy B and Miss Issy, and music by Prince, Missy Elliot, Sylvester, Amanda LePore and more. Check it out:

''Be yourself but times it by a THOUSAND...'' The Niallist

Tranarchy is a clubnight in Manchester in the queer hub of tunnels, big dark rooms, bondage gear and carpeted living rooms that is Legends. Tranarchy is inspired by the 8Os New York drag dance-offs and the film Paris Is Burning.

I interviewed 4 members of Tranarchy about what to expect at Legends tomorrow night; their influences; favourite outfits and I let them choose the music. I loved it!

I played 2 tracks from The Niallist's new album 'AKA' http://www.niallism.com

Bollox is kicking off upstairs in Legends and Tranarchy is downstairs.

Find out more: http://www.facebook.com/tranarchy

FIERCE quotations throughout this interview:
''We've all been called freaks in us lives...''
''Let's through down everything we are forced to be.''
''You know, the standard black lip..''
''Sheela Blige will be happy to be there.''
''The door to the house of Tranarchy is always open.''

LITTLE ROCK on RADIO MAGNETIC

Another awesome thing to happen this year is the Little Rock Radio show which has started (and goes out weekly) on Radio Magnetic. It hosted by our man The Boag, with additional support from Liam Arnold, and even more irregular appearances by myself. In fitting with the ethos of LR the music goes from techno to metal to hip-hop to ambient to anything-we-bloody-like, and there are some storming past guest shows from the likes of Voltergiest, Jackmaster (Numbers), Teamy (Wrong Island), Frog Pocket, Killer Kitsch, Animal Farm and more. Here's the link to the index of all the shows, so jump on over and get a-lissnin':

Niallist BBC 1 Radio Session

January was a pretty great month looking back - I also did my first ever session for the BBC radio, for Radio 1 Scotland. We got shown around the massive new BBC building by the quay here in Glasgow, which is a bit weird as the entire thing is soundproofed and has a very dead atmosphere. We got to set up and play in a great studio space and the engineers were really good. The session was for the Vic Galloway show and we did four tunes in all, including two with guest vocalist Ms Mac D.

If you click on the icon above it will take you to the webpage where you can listen to the session. Unfortunatley this is not available to people outside the UK, but if you really really wanna hear it get in touch and we can sort something out.
